it’s not what you don’t have, it’s what you DO have

CATEGORIES: Allyson Portraits, Portraits

Each year I do a service project to use my talents to bless either other families or our community.  I feel like God has blessed me with a talent, not just for my own use, but to benefit others, and I truly don’t want to squander what He has given to me on myself!  Last year you might remember the special project, “Children of the Central Coast,” or the McGibben Family … Tim is doing amazing by the way!!!!  This year while I was thinking and trying to come up with what felt right, I heard, from that special little voice deep inside, to “start with the ones you know,” and so I did.

Two and a half years ago a dear friend or ours, Jenn, was 9 months pregnant with her second baby boy.  We had met through our church and throughout her pregnancy, Jenn kept complaining of having numbing and tingling in her legs and feet…her doctor told her it was the baby pushing on her spine. When she fell so bad she sprained her knee and ankle, she had an MRI, which revealed a tumor INSIDE her spinal cord.  She was immediately air lifted to Standford, where they took baby Elijah one day and did spinal cord surgery the next. Talk about intense.  To make matters more interesting, a case like hers is only one in 12 known cases throughout the world!

Jenn’s been on the long road to recovery these past two years and is currently in good health and amazing spirits, she is truly an inspiration.  It seemed like the perfect time to capture her beautiful family!  Their boys are just the sweetest, and since they both are all boy, I thought Pomar Junction would be a fun place to shoot.  We had a relaxing afternoon exploring the old rusty carts, trucks and train cars, all along taking photographs that will be cherished for a lifetime by many.  We love you Jenn!  Please pray for her continued healing, strength and amazing faith that has gotten her and family through this challenging chapter.  To read more about Jenn’s story, visit her BLOG.
