This past year, I made it a real point to take on weddings and couples who I connected with, who appreciated my work and style, and who’s top priority was their photography! After talking with several 10.10.10 couples, Emily emailed me. She caught my attention immediately with her witty email, and stunning imagery of her vision for her and Michael’s big day. They had secured one of my favorite venues – Point 16 in Big Sur – and had a wonderful vision for their wedding. We had a fantastic engagement session in the San Simeon / Cambria area – and an even better wedding at Point 16 in Big Sur!
So you may be asking, what was so great about this wedding?! Why does Allyson keep saying it was one of the best weddings!? Well, in addition to liking having their photo taken, Emily and Michael’s day was SO SO SO chill. Their intimate gathering of 50 +/- guests where bused in from Big Sur, and arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony. They arrived to the amazing backdrop of the “Edge of the Continent” as I like to call the Pacific Ocean view. Guests mingled around, took in the view (can I say INCREDIBLE view) and took their seats.
The ceremony was lovely, with Emily’s dad marrying them, he’s a judge, so that was convenient. They were completely surrounded by only the most precious people in their lives – family and very close friends. After the ceremony, cheers, appetizers and laughter followed, simple as that. The had a good 3 hours of relaxing time with their guests before everyone watched the sun go below the horizon. Then they treated their guests to a delicious dinner at the Big Sur Bakery.
So what was so great about their celebration, was really simple, time is what is so valuable when you really think about life. No matter what, we are all given the same amount of time in day, year and month, and how much you choose to delegate to the ones you love, will determine your relationships fovever. Emily and Michael were totally blessed on their wedding by the time their family and guests gave them, at a once in a lifetime event. I believe they did not walk away from their wedding day with it as a blur, they savored it, with their guests, every moment.
Enjoy!
