Holman Ranch Wedding, Carmel Valley
Ben and Rebecca hosted their big day at historic (and stunning) Holman Ranch Wedding, Carmel Valley. Surrounded by their closest family and friends they integrated both sides of their family culture into their ceremony.
Ever since starting Allyson Magda Photography 19 years ago, one of the elements I enjoy most, even to this day, are the cultural traditions that occur in wedding ceremonies. As a native to the United States, I’ve realized we don’t have a lot of traditions in our country, and a lot of them are manmade. However, weddings are one that bring us all together, regardless of culture, and is a tradition celebrated in almost every nationality, religion and region of the world.
Rebecca and Ben combined his mother’s Asian influence and both of their family’s Jewish traditions. The Ketubah in particular rates high in my personal book of traditions! There’s an old saying by Lewis Carroll “If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never get there.” I’ve always been a fan of writing down goals. A mission statement for your family and marriage, could be one of the most significant steps to take when starting a new home and family. If you’re unfamilar with a Ketubah, it’s basically a written contract signed on the wedding day, witnessed by close family and the Rabi. It states what your marriage and family commit to, year in and year out. It’s a constant reminder that hangs on the wall of your home that states what your marriage and family stand for. Usually it’s a work of art, so it’s beautiful to boot.
I hope you enjoy this visual beautiful celebration of love .. we did. It’s always an honor.
Truly,
Allyson
