Kat & Gregg’s Carmel Mission, Ventana Big Sur Wedding
Katie and Gregg’s destination wedding was over the top! We started at the historical Carmel Mission for their ceremony, where Kat put her dress on in a vestibule surrounded by ancient clergymen robes. I love this room for the antiquity value it presents and the juxtaposition of the brand new design bridal gown, and the ancient clothing of the priests and clergy. Kat’s dress was incredibly elegant and classic, coupled with her headband and veil, completely timeless!
Gregg took his bride in the basilica at Carmel Mission complete with adorable flower girls and ring bearers, seriously, did you double take on their images?! adorable!
Over the year prior to Kat and Gregg’s wedding we got to know each other over a day spent together photographing their engagements in New York City. They are so well suited for each other, and we had a wonderful time. Traveling for engagement sessions to capture couples in their native environments is one of the most favorite parts of my career. It’s inspiring, relaxed, fun and ultimately we capture timeless images for them to relive this time in their lives for not only the rest of their lives but future generations! So special.
After the ceremony there was a bit of a break for guests to go relax, some even took the opportunity to sport a second dress … yea!!! Loved that. The festivities continued in the evening at the world class Ventana Inn located in Big Sur, and across the street from Post Ranch Inn. If you’ve never been to Ventana, it’s like experiencing life above the world. On the back patio all the Cypress trees are “topped” so you literally are above a canopy of these large trees, overlooking the ocean, INCREDIBLE! All next to an ancient redwood forest. To say their day was perfection would be an understatement, it was sublime.
