It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season….shopping, shipping, wrapping, traveling, bring cheer to far and near.  It’s so easy to forget the reason behind this Christmas season.  I know not everyone who reads this blog “believes” and obviously I do…but something has to be said about the Christmas season.  Why is Christmas such a big deal?  Who made it such a big deal?  For how long has it been celebrated?  Dare I say maybe 2010 years?  Dare I say humanity has skewed the reason behind the season?

It fills me up with joy to be able to give gifts to the ones I love each Christmas season, but it’s not the gifts I give that matter.  It’s the gifts we’ve all been given; the breaths of each moment, the moments that take our breath away, the experiences of our lifetimes, the gift of family and friends, ultimately the gift of a Savior and eternity.  It literally makes my heart hurt to know there is a whole bunch of kiddos out there who honestly don’t know what Christmas really is all about, and believe it’s about Santa.

I encourage you to stop this holiday, and take in all the incredibleness we are surrounded by, and be grateful, for the true reason behind the season, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
